Ridgefield Wisely Rejects Local Cannabis Businesses 3 to 1

But Two Rouge Commissions Defy the Board of Selectmen and Town Meeting

Ridgefield's now notorious Economic and Community Development twice voted unanimously to oppose the Town Policy prohibiting cannabis businesses on August 16, 2022 and again on September 12, 2022 after the Town Ordinance banning cannabis business establishments passed by a margin on 3 to 1 on September 7, 2011.

Likewise, Ridgefield's now notorious Planning and Zoning Commission denied an application to update its existing regulation that already banned recreational marijuana businesses that they passed in 2015. The update was required to comply with the language in the new State statute permitting towns to opt out of cannabis businesses, the Town policy passed by the Board of Selectmen and the Town ordinance passed by a 3 to 1 margin in a Town meeting on September 7, 2022.
